in the first game of the second round of Nations Cup in China. The
man of the game has been

Australia beat China
winning Shuang Lai Cup - Jul 4, 2002
Australian team showed a great performance, winning strong
international tournament in China. In the final game they beat host
team 82-68, having a perfect bilance of 3 victories and no game
lost. Australia started evry well with a lead. However then Chinese
players were able to catch up and get double-digit advantage.
However Australian team showed a lot of couraeg trailing back by 1
point at the end of third quarter. The last period eblonged only to
Australia, who won it 24-9.
Chris Anstey (213-C-75) was the top scored for the Boomers with
22 points while John Rillie had 21 including five three-pointers.
Chinese star Yao Ming (recently NBA Draft No 1 pick) was ferquently
doubled, and stopped by Wade Helliwell and Ben Melmeth. He was able
to score just 9 points, so way less than in previous games.
Worth to mention that Australia was the only team in the tournament
out of four participaiting ones, which did not wualify to World
Championships in Indianapolis.

As expected, the young and inexperienced Taiwan NT was shell-shocked in its international debut, losing to Australia 67-107 in the first preliminary game of East Asia Game in Osaka, Japan. Though totally outplayed by the Australians, Taiwan NT shows some glimpse of the future. 193cm wing guard Chen Hsin-an led with 13 points while incoming college freshman Tien Lei (201cm, F) had 11 points and 6 rebounds in his international competition debut. Tien's fast-break dunk wowed the crowds, even the Australians. Taiwan NT's real game will not begun until today when they face dark horse Kazakhstan, who shocked South Korea earlier and is Taiwan's primary roadblock onto the final four.
