Dandenong Rangers extends WNBL Grand Final MVP Kath MacLeod - May 29, 2012

Dandenong Rangers announced very important news today. The reigning champion extended deal with WNBL Grand Final MVP Kathleen Macleod (167-G-86) for the next season. The 25-year-old guard will play her third straight season with the club. In the latest one she had 17.2 ppg, 7.5 apg and 4 apg for 22 games. MacLeod ended it as the fourth best scorer of the competition and No.1 in assists. She was awarded with Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL Player of the Year -12 and Dandenong Rangers won the championship title. In 2010/11, Kathleen Macleod had 15.4 ppg, 5.5 apg and 4 rpg for 20 games with the club. At that time she was awarded with Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL 2nd Team. Before Dandenong Rangers, MacLeod spent one season in France. In 2008/09, she played for the Hungarian team MKB Euroleasing Sopron and won the league title with them. They also reached Euroleague Semifinals. In the past, MacLeon played for Bendigo Spirit and Rangers. She is active member of the Australian National Team since 2006.

Melbourne Boomers (WNBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 27-year old Canadian forward Kalisha Keane (185-89, college: Michigan State). She played most recently at TED Ankara in Turkish TKBL. In 21 games she recorded very impressive stats: 16.1ppg, 7.6rpg, 2.6apg and 2.4spg last season. Former international Center Marianna Tolo (196-C-89) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Canberra C. and that's her to receive a Australiabasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8. The 27-year old center had the game-high 25 points adding eight rebounds and seven assists for Canberra in her team's victory, helping them to beat Perth (#3, 7-4) 87-82.
