Rhys Carter
The Perth Wildcats have signed Australian guard Rhys Carter (190-PG-84) to help fill the hole left by Brad Robbins, who retired from the game in December.

The 28-year-old trained with the team today after leaving Europe where he had been playing for Uppsala Basket in the Swedish Basketball League.

Wildcats head coach Rob Beveridge says Carter will be a valuable addition to his side.

'He played for me in the National Junior team that won the World Championship, and he played with me at West Sydney so he fits into our style of game,' he said.

'He's a good shooter of the ball, he is quite athletic, but he's now a veteran, he's won a Championship with the Dragons, he's a seasoned campaigner, he's going to definitely fit in, he's a combo one-two man, so that's what I like, he's a combo guard, not a pure point guard and not a pure two guard.'

The Victorian joined the South Dragons in 2008 where he became a championship player in his first season.

He then played for Gothia Basket in Sweden where he played 40 games, averaging more than 16 points.

In 2010 Carter returned to the NBL to play for the Adelaide 36ers, where he played 22 games before returning to Sweden to join Uppsala Basket.

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Australians who are currently playing abroad. Kyrie Irving (190-G-92) could not help the Cleveland Cavaliers (51-31) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Cleveland Cavaliers (51-31) were edged 111-108 on the road by the Boston Celtics.    [read more]

In 23 games he averaged 12.7ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.5apg and 3.3bpg last season. A very good year in his career as he was awarded All-RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and selected to All-RMAC 1st Team. The previous (2016) summer Kahler played at Maroochydore Clippers in Australian QBL where in 15 games he had 8.3ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.9bpg in 2016...   [read more]
