Josh Boone
32-year old power forward Josh Boone (208-F/C-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for United and receives a Australiabasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18.
He had a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Hawks (#2, 14-13) 78-72. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. United is placed at 4th position in Australian league. United is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 13-13 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Boone as usually he does not deliver so high stats. University of Connecticut graduate has very impressive stats this year. Boone leads league in rebounds with 8.3rpg. Boone is in league's top in and averages solid 1.2bpg and 51.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Nathan Jawai (209-F/C-86) of Taipans. He is former international forward in his first season at Taipans. In the last game Jawai recorded impressive 22 points and 9 rebounds. Of course Taipans cruised to a 85-77 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Wildcats (13-13). This victory allowed Taipans to move up to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 13-13 record is not bad and everything may still change. Jawai is a newcomer at Taipans and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to Daniel Johnson (210-C/F-88) of league's leader 36ers. Johnson scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds. Despite Johnson's great performance 36ers lost 87-88 to the lower-ranked Breakers (#7, 13-14). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing 36ers needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 17 victories and 9 lost games. Johnson has a great season in Australia. After 24 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.4rpg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Andrew James Ogilvy (211-C-88) of Hawks - 13 points and 11 rebounds
5. Bryce Cotton (185-G-92) of Wildcats - 25 points
6. Rotnei Clarke (183-PG-89) of Hawks - 19 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Robert Loe (211-F-91) of Breakers - 15 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Brad Newley (199-F/G-85) of Kings - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Nick Kay (206-C/F-92) of Hawks - 17 points and 3 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
