Standish
American Kayla Standish (187-F-89) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Townsville and that's her to receive a Australiabasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 27-year old forward had the game-high 22 points adding nine rebounds for Townsville in her team's victory, helping them to crush Dandenong (14-9) with 17-point margin 83-66. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Townsville is placed at 3rd position in Australian WNBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Townsville will need more victories to improve their 14-9 record. In the team's last game Standish had a remarkable 76.9% from 2-point range. She turned to be Townsville's top player in her first season with the team. Kayla Standish averages this season 12.3ppg and 5.4rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Townsville's star - 32-year old former international guard Kelly Wilson (170-G-84). Wilson impressed basketball fans with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course together with Standish she helped Townsville with another comfortable win 83-66 over Dandenong (14-9) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Townsville consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. Her team's 14-9 record is not bad at all. Wilson is a newcomer at Townsville and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was American Jennifer Hamson (201-C-92, agency: LBM Management) of top-ranked Sydney. Hamson scored 16 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Sydney, leading her team to a 81-77 win against #4 ranked Dandenong. Sydney confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 17 victories and 6 lost games. Hamson has a great season in Australia. After 21 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.6rpg (4th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Belinda Snell (180-SF-81) of Sydney - 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Colleen Planeta (188-F-88) of Adelaide - 25 points and 9 rebounds
6. Stephanie Cumming (178-G-90) of Dandenong - 25 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Kalisha Keane (185-F-89) of Melbourne - 16 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists
8. Laura Hodges (191-C-83) of Adelaide - 18 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Samantha Whitcomb (178-G/F-88) of Perth - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Carley Mijovic (196-F/C-94) of Perth - 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
