Australian NBL round 19 best performance: Casey Prather - Feb 13, 2017

Casey
Prather
American Swingman Casey Prather (198-F/G-91) had a great game in the last round for Wildcats, receiving a Australiabasket.com Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (29 points, four rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass Kings (#7, 13-15) with 27-point margin 101-74. Wildcats is placed at 3rd position in Australian NBL. Wildcats is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 15-13 record. In the team's last game Prather had a remarkable 56.3% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Wildcats and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Former University of Florida star has very solid stats this year. Prather is in league's top in points (4th best: 19.0ppg).

The second best player in last round's games was 32-year old American Josh Boone (208-F/C-84) of United. Boone had a very good evening with a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as United was edged by the higher-ranked Wildcats (#3, 15-13) 96-94. United is still second from the bottom in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 13-15 record. Boone is a newcomer at United and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Torrey Craig (198-F-90) of Bullets (#8). Craig got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for eighteen rebounds . Despite Craig's great performance Bullets lost 79-106 to the higher-ranked Hawks (#4, 15-13). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Bullets not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 18 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Craig could try to bring Bullets' a little bit higher in the standings. Craig has individually a great season in Australia. After 28 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.0rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Casey Prather (198-F/G-91) of Wildcats - 26 points, 2 rebounds and 11 assists
5. Casper Ware (178-PG-90) of United - 27 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Rotnei Clarke (183-PG-89) of Hawks - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists
7. Andrew James Ogilvy (211-C-88) of Hawks - 22 points and 6 rebounds
8. Mitch Creek (195-F/G-92) of 36ers - 16 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Jameel McKay (206-F/C-92) of Wildcats - 14 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Bryce Cotton (185-G-92) of Wildcats - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
