American Tyler Monroe (201-F) had an amazing evening in the last round for Maitland M. and that's him to receive a Australiabasket.com State League Player of the Week award for round 1.
The forward had a double-double of 30 points and fourteen rebounds, while his team edged out Bankstown B. (#11, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team 83-81. Thanks to this victory Maitland M. moved-up to the 6th position in their group in Australian State League. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Maitland M. won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Monroe just recently signed at Maitland M. and it was his first game, where he immediately became new team's leader. Azusa Pacific University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Monroe is in league's top in points (2nd best: 30.0ppg), assists (9th best: 4.0apg) and averages solid 4.0bpg and 63.6% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was -year old American forward Mitchell Rueter (198-F) of Cent.Coast C.. Rueter impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Cent.Coast C. lost that game 94-102 to Norths Bears (1-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Rueter is one of the most experienced players at Cent.Coast C. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.5ppg (#8). His other stats are also decent: 10.0rpg and 3.5apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Dane Suttle (198-G/F-89) of Newcastle H. (#4). Suttle showcased his all-around game by recording 28 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Newcastle H., leading his team to a 72-70 win against #3 ranked Manly Warr. in a game of the week. Newcastle H. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Waratah. Their record at this point is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Suttle has a great season in Australia. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 27.0ppg (4th best).

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Adelaide 36ers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Adelaide 36ers smashed 6th ranked Illawarra Hawks in Findon 112-90. Adelaide 36ers forced 20 Illawarra Hawks turnovers and outrebounded them 49-29 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Joondalup City Wanneroo Wolves (SBL) added to their roster 26-year old American forward Jalen Billups (198-109kg-92, college: N.Kentucky, agency: Haylett Sports). He played last season at Glasgow Rocks in British BBL league, but left the team in Dec.'17. In 12 games he recorded very impressive stats: 15.3ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.3apg this season. Joondalup City Wanneroo Wolves (SBL) tabbed 25-year old American point guard Brian Sullivan (183-84kg-93, college: Davidson). He played recently at MMCITE Brno in NBL league in Czech Republic. In 8 games he averaged impressive 23.4ppg, 3.0rpg, 2.5apg and 1.5spg this season. Sullivan also played 3 games in Alpe-Adria-Cup where he had very remarkable stats: 21.0ppg, 5.3rpg, 4.7apg and 2.7spg. The last season he played at White Wings in German ProA.
