Benjamin
23-year old forward Dwayne Benjamin (201-F-93) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Geraldton B. and receives a Australiabasket.com State League Player of the Week award for round 3.
He had the game-high 33 points adding five rebounds and seven assists for Geraldton B. in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Kalamunda E.S. (#14, 0-2) with 35-point margin 119-84. Geraldton B. is placed at 2nd position in their group in Australian State League. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Geraldton B. won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Benjamin had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Geraldton B. and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. University of Oregon graduate has very impressive stats this year. Benjamin is league's best scorer averaging so far 31.0ppg. Benjamin is in league's top in assists (5th best: 5.5apg) and averages solid 4.0spg,66.7% FGP and 54.5% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Jeremy Smith (190-G) of Werribee D.. He is American guard in his first season at Werribee D.. In the last game Smith recorded impressive double-double of 28 points and 15 rebounds. Bad luck as Werribee D. lost that game 83-98 to Ringwood H. (1-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Smith is a newcomer at Werribee D. and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward James Padgett (203-F-91) of Lakeside L. (#7). Padgett scored 26 points and grabbed nineteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Padgett's great performance Lakeside L. lost 85-99 to Geraldton B. (#2, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Lakeside L. needs is to lose another game like this one. Padgett has a great season in Australia. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.5ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 12.0rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Kyle Bowen (200-F) of Perth Redbacks - 20 points and 15 rebounds
5. Indiana Faithfull (193-G-91) of Sydney Comets - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists
6. Tyler Monroe (201-F) of Maitland M. - 27 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Tre Nichols (180-G-89) of SW Slammers - 34 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Shawn Redhage (203-F-81) of Perth Redbacks - 31 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Charles Polk (200-F/C-84) of Casey C. - 20 points and 11 rebounds
10. Taylor Mullenax (200-F-86) of Mandurah M. - 27 points and 11 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
