Adekponya
Perry Lakes Hawks (SBL) inked 27-year old Australian guard Matthew Adekponya (194-86kg-90). He played recently at Team FOG Naestved in Danish Ligaen. In 14 games he averaged just 2.6ppg this season. Adekponya helped them to win the cup. The last summer he played at Buccaneers where in 26 SBL games he had very impressive stats: 26.0ppg, 9.1rpg, 2.8apg, 1.3spg and 1.0bpg. Adekponya contributed to his team making it to the semifinals. A very good season in his career as he was awarded Australiabasket.com All-Australian SBL Domestic Player of the Year, selected to 1st Team and to the All-Star Game.
Last year he was drafted by Grand Rapids Drive (D-League) in sixth round (99th overall).
Among other achievements Adekponya won Australian QBL championship title in 2009 and 2015.
He is a very experienced player. Adekponya has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to four different countries on three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America). Adekponya has played previously professionally in Malta (Depiro), Portugal (Barcelos), Australia (Mackay Meteors, Cairns Taipans and Cairns Marlins) and Norway (Nidaros Jets).
