Mitchell
Hatay Bsb (KBSL) agreed terms with 32-year old Australian international point guard Leilani Mitchell (165-59kg-85, college: Utah). She plays this summer at Phoenix Mercury (WNBA). Mitchell managed to play in three leagues in three countries last year. In 7 WNBA games she had 12.4ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.9apg and 1.3spg. She ended the last season at Girne Universitesi where in four games she recorded very impressive stats: 19.5ppg, 2.5rpg, 6.0apg and 1.5spg. But the most of that year Mitchell spent at Sydney Uni Flames in Australian WNBL. In 28 games she averaged remarkable 16.0ppg, 3.8rpg, 6.0apg (leader !!!) and 1.8spg (in top 3). She helped them to win the league title (twice) (also twice). Quite impressive season as she was voted Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL Guard of the Year and named to 1st Team.
In 2008 Mitchell was drafted by Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) in second round (25th overall).
The former University of Utah staris in her tenth season in pro basketball.
Mitchell was voted All-WNBA Most Improved Player of the Year back in 2010.
She also represented Australia at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) last year.
Mitchell is quite experienced player. Her career allowed her to visit three different continents, while she played in four different countries. Mitchell tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Australia and of course North America. She has played previously professionally in Croatia (Lupa Promotion), France, WNBA (Washington Mystics and New York Liberty) and Australia (Adelaide Lightning and Dandenong Rangers).
On Mitchell: A very good player, who plays with a lot of composure, can shoot the three-pointer and sees the court well.
