Alex Wilson
Alex Wilson (174-G-94) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Eastern M. and that's her to receive a Australiabasket.com State League Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 23-year old guard had a double-double of 32 points and ten rebounds, while her team edged out Norwood F. (#4, 11-5) 82-80. It allowed Eastern M. to consolidate first place in the Australian State League. Eastern M. have a solid 13-3 record. In the team's last game Wilson had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. She has many years of experience at Eastern M., through which she has constantly improved. Wilson has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (2nd best: 26.9ppg) and averages solid 1.4bpg,2.4spg and 60.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American center Cassie Rochel (193-C-91) of Gladstone PCP. Rochel impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Gladstone PCP lost that game 76-84 to the higher-ranked Logan T. (#2, 12-1). Gladstone PCP managed to keep the same 6th spot in QBL. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 6-5 record is not bad and everything may still change. Rochel is one of the most experienced players at Gladstone PCP and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Croatian center Suzy Batkovic-Brown (195-C-80) of Newcastle H. (#5). Batkovic-Brown got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. She went also for fifteen rebounds and four assists. She was a key player of Newcastle H., leading her team to a 72-57 easy win against Sutherland S. (7-7). Newcastle H. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Waratah. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 7 lost games. Batkovic-Brown has a very solid season. In 9 games in Australia she scored 30.1ppg. She also has 12.1rpg and 3.0bpg. Suzy Batkovic-Brown has also Australian passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ali Schwagmeyer (180-F-90) of Lakeside L. - 27 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Jo Hill (182-F/G-73) of N.Adelaide R. - 27 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Markel Walker (185-F-90) of Ipswich F. - 22 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Alice Kunek (187-G/F-91) of Eltham W. - 37 points and 10 rebounds

9. Shelby Cheslek (196-C-92) of SW Metro P. - 16 points, 22 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Kisha Lee (182-F-85) of Stirling S. - 26 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
