Regular Season Round 6: Sturt S. - Eastern M. 88-59
Date: April 23, 2021
Undefeated leader Sturt Sabres delivered the fourth consecutive victory. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Eastern Mavericks (0-4) 88-59 in Pasadena. Sturt Sabres dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Eastern Mavericks' 32. Sturt Sabres forced 19 Eastern Mavericks turnovers and outrebounded them 46-34 including 33 on the defensive glass. Forward Thomas Goodall (198, college: NIACC) notched 13 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Joel Spear (192-94, college: S.Oregon) supported him with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Sturt Sabres players scored in double figures. Even 6 points and 12 rebounds by naturalized Sudanese center Paul Aleer (213-94) did not help to save the game for Eastern Mavericks. Forward Rigby Aktanarowicz added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sturt Sabres have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Eastern Mavericks at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
