Rather predictable result in Wendouree where fourth ranked Bendigo Braves (3-1) beat 7th ranked Ballarat Miners (2-3) 85-80 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Nelson Larkins (180-96) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard William Hickey (194-99) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and international guard Matthew Kenyon (195-98) added 17 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bendigo Braves moved-up to second place in League. Loser Ballarat Miners dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. Bendigo Braves will face Tigers (#16) in Melbourne in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ballarat Miners will play at home against Frankston Blues (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
