The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Wanneroo as it allowed them to take a leadership position in League. Wanneroo smashed bottom-ranked Suns in Joondalup 84-61. Wanneroo dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 24. Wanneroo forced 19 Suns turnovers and outrebounded them 58-34 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Jonathan Wade had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Lochlan Cummings (189-95, college: HIU) chipped in 18 points during the contest. At the losing side American forward Chris Johnson (201-90, college: UIW) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Ryan Blanchett (203-96, college: FNU) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Suns at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Suns will play next round against strong Tigers trying to get back on the winning streak. Wanneroo will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Magic at Mandurah.
