Regular Season Round 10: Sutherland S. - Illawarra H. 2 94-80

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Sutherland Sharks (3-3) defeated at home bottom-ranked Hawks (0-4) 94-80 on Saturday. Sutherland Sharks looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Hawks' players. Quite impressive performance for Geoffrey Gerlach who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Lochlan Hutchison contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Sutherland Sharks players scored in double figures. Sutherland Sharks' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Philip Dopud replied with 18 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Sean Mullan (198-90, college: Nova SE) added 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Hawks. Despite that victory Sutherland Sharks went down to eighth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Hawks still closes the standings with four games lost. Sutherland Sharks will face higher ranked Bankstown Bruins (#7) in Condell Park in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hawks will play at home against Canberra Gunners (#5) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
