Regular Season Round 11: SW Slammers - Rockingham F. 39-80

Bottom-ranked Slammers (0-3) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their third consecutive match to seventh ranked Flames (2-1) 80-39 on Sunday evening. Flames dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Slammers' 22. Flames forced 24 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 42-25 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Slammers' players. The best player for the winners was guard Tayah Burrows (179-1) who scored 28 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Swingman Christina Boag (188-91) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Flames' coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zaya Black produced 14 points and 6 rebounds and Karinda Farrant added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Flames moved-up to second place in League. Loser Slammers still closes the standings with three games lost. Flames will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Slammers will play against Lightning (#10) in Bullcreek and look forward to get finally their first victory.
