Regular Season Round 10: Inner WB - Newcastle H. 76-82

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Newcastle Hunters (3-2) beat their close opponent Bulls (2-4) in Inner West 82-76 on Sunday. Newcastle Hunters dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Bulls' 18. They outrebounded Bulls 43-28 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for naturalized South Sudanese forward Chier Maker (203-95, college: Idaho St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points and 18 rebounds. Forward Myles Cherry (203-98, college: Lafayette) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Newcastle Hunters players scored in double figures. Guard Hunter Madden (184-1, college: Idaho) replied with 23 points and 5 rebounds and American Henry Mayen added 4 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Bulls. Bulls' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newcastle Hunters moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Bulls dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Newcastle Hunters will face Crusaders (#13) in Terrigal in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bulls will play on the road against Sydney City Comets in Alexandria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
