Everything could happen in Sippy Downs at the game between two tied teams. Both leader Phoenix and bottom-ranked Rip City had identical 0-0 record. But Rip City was not able to use a home court advantage and was outscored by the opponent from Cotton Tree 98-56 on Thursday night. Phoenix dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Rip City's 38. They outrebounded Rip City 46-24 including a 35-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Phoenix looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Phoenix made 7 blocks. Guard Isaih Tueta (187-91) answered with 17 points and guard Louis Ilton (191, college: TAMIU) added 7 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Rip City. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Phoenix (1-0) left bottom position moving up to fourth place in League. Loser Rip City still closes the standings with one game lost. Phoenix will face Northside Wizards (#11) in Taigum in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
