There was no surprise in Kalamunda where bottom-ranked Suns (0-3) were defeated by top-ranked Cougars (2-0) 63-45 on Saturday. Cougars held Suns to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.6 percent accuracy of the winners. The best player for the winners was center Jessie Edwards (192-95, college: Minnesota) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Taylah Simmons (185, college: Southeastern) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jewel Williams (168-1) who recorded 14 points and 5 rebounds and Mia Jacobs added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cougars moved-up to second place in League. Loser Suns still closes the standings with three games lost. Cougars will face Tigers (#5) in Willetton in the next round. Suns will play at home against Hawks (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
