The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Capitals as it allowed them to take a leadership position in League. Capitals defeated bottom-ranked Wizards in Brisbane 82-65. It was a key game for the top position in League. Capitals dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Wizards' 34. Capitals forced 21 Wizards turnovers and outrebounded them 44-32 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for New Zealand guard Brooke Blair (173-94, college: Idaho St.) who led her team to a victory with 23 points and 4 steals. The former international center Meg Essex (190-96) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Capitals players scored in double figures. Georgia Woolley replied with 19 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Courtney Woods (183, college: NIU) added 16 points in the effort for Wizards. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Wizards at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Wizards will play next round against strong Sunshine CP trying to get back on the winning streak. Capitals will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Brisbane Spartans. It will be extra interesting game as Brisbane Spartans is their local rival from Brisbane.
