Regular Season Round 11: NW Tasmania - Diamond V.E. 100-78

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (4-3) were outleveled by fifth ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (5-1) in Ulverstone 100-78 on Saturday. NW Tasmania Thunder outrebounded Diamond Valley Eagles 47-27 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Diamond Valley Eagles' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when NW Tasmania Thunder made 8 blocks. Canadian power forward Paul Campbell (208-87, college: Hawaii) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks. International point guard Taran Armstrong (193-2) contributed with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Robert Heath answered with 16 points and forward Joel Capetola (194-1) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Diamond Valley Eagles. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. NW Tasmania Thunder moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. NW Tasmania Thunder will face Kilsyth Cobras (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against Kilsyth Cobras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
