Very predictable result when seventh ranked Lightning (2-1) rolled over bottom-ranked Slammers (0-3) in North Lake 121-52 on Saturday. Lightning forced 26 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 46-28 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 38 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Slammers' players. Forward Corey Shervill (201-88, college: St.Edward's) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 6 rebounds. Center Jarrad Prue (198-82) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Four Lightning players scored in double figures. Caleb Van De Griend answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and center Ngor Nai (208, college: Baton Rouge) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Slammers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lightning moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Slammers still closes the standings with three games lost. Lightning will face Buccaneers (#9) in Wonthella in the next round. Slammers will play at home against Eagles (#12) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
