Regular Season Round 12: Eastern Suns - Willetton T. 71-98

There was a small surprise in Kalamunda where eleventh ranked Tigers (2-1) smashed bottom-ranked Suns (0-3) 98-71 on Sunday. Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 22 and made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Suns 56-25 including a 23-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Samantha Lubcke (188-96, college: Utah Valley) who had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Guard Alexandra Sharp (185-97, college: Wake Forest) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jewel Williams (168-1) who recorded 18 points and Courtney Mansfield added 11 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigers moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Suns still closes the standings with three games lost. Tigers will face league's second-placed Cougars in Hamilton Hill in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Suns will play at home against Hawks (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
