Regular Season Round 12: Mackay M. - Rockhampton 95-81

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Rockets (0-2) were defeated on the road by seventh ranked Mackay Meteors (2-1) 95-81 on Friday. Mackay Meteors outrebounded Rockets 46-31 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Chris Cedar (188-88) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists and American swingman Jerron Jamerson (193, college: Goshen) who added 21 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) during the contest. Five Mackay Meteors players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Kon Anguik (196, college: Simpson, CA) with 26 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Najeal Young (198-94, college: TxWes) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mackay Meteors moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Rockets still closes the standings with two games lost. Mackay Meteors will face again Rockets (#12) in Rockhampton in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
