Regular Season Round 4: Nuggets - Giants 86-89

A very close game took place in Dunedin between Giants and Nuggets. Seventh ranked Giants (3-5) got a very close victory on the road over 4th ranked Nuggets (3-3). Giants managed to escape with a 3-point win 89-86 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by American guard Hunter Hale (192-97, college: Winthrop) who scored that evening 41 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and the other American import swingman Donte Ingram (199-96, college: Loyola, IL) supported him with 17 points and 5 steals. Even a double-double of 18 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists by the former international power forward Samuel Timmins (211-97, college: Washington) did not help to save the game for Nuggets. Australian forward Geremy McKay (201-96, college: Vanguard) added 21 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Four Nuggets players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Giants went down to eighth position due to points difference. Defending champion Nuggets dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Rams. Giants will meet at home league's second-placed Hawks in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Nuggets will play against Huskies in Auckland and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
