Rather predictable result in Hermit Park where top-ranked Townsville Heat (2-0) smashed bottom-ranked Rockets (0-2) 103-73 on Saturday. Townsville Heat dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Rockets' 36. Townsville Heat forced 22 Rockets turnovers and had a 39-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Jalen Patton-Croker (193-99, college: Southeast CC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Ethan Betts (188, college: Umpqua CC) who added 12 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Najeal Young (198-94, college: TxWes) with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Ben Wright (198, college: Lewis & Clark) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Townsville Heat and four Rockets players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Townsville Heat moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Rockets still closes the standings with two games lost. Townsville Heat will face Cairns Marlins (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Rockets will play against Mackay Meteors and hope to get finally their first victory.
