Regular Season Round 4: Sharks - Giants 101-92

The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Sharks' (4-3) home victory over 7th ranked Giants (3-5) in Southland 101-92 on Sunday. Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Giants' 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Quite impressive performance for forward Brayden Inger (203-99) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 6 rebounds. Dominique Kelman-Poto (201-94, college: Adelphi) contributed with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Nic Trathen (200-97) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Hunter Hale (192-97, college: Winthrop) added 18 points in the effort for Giants. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sharks moved-up to fourth place. Loser Giants dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Sharks will face Jets (#9) in Palmerston North in the next round where they are favorite. Giants will play at home against the league's second-placed Hawks and hope to win that game.
