No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Sutherland Sharks (6-4) edged at home 9th ranked Newcastle Hunters (4-5) 75-74 on Sunday. Strangely Newcastle Hunters outrebounded Sutherland Sharks 44-32 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Callum Norris fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Aaron Borich (185, college: S.Oregon, agency: Big Game Management Inc.) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists. Forward Myles Cherry (203-98, college: Lafayette) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds and naturalized South Sudanese forward Chier Maker (203-95, college: Idaho St.) added 28 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Sutherland Sharks maintains sixth place in League with 6-4 record. Loser Newcastle Hunters keep the ninth position with five games lost. Sutherland Sharks will face league's second-placed Excellence in Canberra in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
