Regular Season Round 19: SW Slammers - Perry Lakes H. 31-97

Date: June 12, 2021
The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Slammers' (0-8) home loss to eleventh ranked Hawks (3-5) 31-97 on Saturday. Hawks held Slammers to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.6 percent accuracy of the winners. Hawks forced 38 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 53-32 including a 24-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Slammers' players. It was a great evening for forward Megan McKay (190-97, college: St.Mary's, CA) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. The former international power forward Natalie Burton (194-89, college: WVU) helped adding 24 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). At the losing side Cian Parsons responded with 6 points and 13 rebounds and Zaya Black scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hawks moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Slammers still closes the standings with eight games lost. Hawks will face higher ranked Cougars (#3) in Hamilton Hill in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Slammers will play at home against Redbacks (#7) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
