There was an upset in Broadmeadow where higher ranked Canberra Gunners (6-5) were defeated by tenth ranked Newcastle Hunters (5-6) 76-67 on Sunday. Newcastle Hunters outrebounded Canberra Gunners 44-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Naturalized South Sudanese forward Chier Maker (203-95, college: Idaho St.) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Myles Cherry (203-98, college: Lafayette) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Four Newcastle Hunters players scored in double figures. Center Glenn Morison (208, college: St.Edward's) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and Alex Archer added 17 points respectively for lost side. Canberra Gunners' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newcastle Hunters maintains tenth position in League with 5-6 record. Loser Canberra Gunners keep the sixth place with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
