Everything went according to plan when eleventh ranked Kilsyth Cobras (4-4) defeated 13th ranked Ballarat Miners (4-6) in Wendouree 61-50 on Saturday. Center Timothy Lang (206-85, college: Stetson) nailed 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Benjamin Ursich (196-96, college: Augusta) accounted for 7 points and 8 rebounds. International guard Matthew Kenyon (195-98) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Sam Short (195-98) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Ballarat Miners in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kilsyth Cobras maintains eleventh place in League with 4-4 record. Loser Ballarat Miners dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. Kilsyth Cobras will meet at home higher ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ballarat Miners will play against Diamond Valley Eagles (#8) in Greensborough and hope to secure a win.
