There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Suns (4-8) edged higher ranked Senators (6-5) in Perth 96-94 on Sunday. Suns had a 29-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Chris Johnson (201-90, college: UIW) nailed 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and guard Jermaine Malie (185-96) accounted for 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Worth to mention Johnson played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Suns' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Caleb Davis (206-95, college: SVSU) came up with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and the former international forward Cody Ellis (202-90, college: St.Louis) added 26 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Senators in the defeat. Four Senators players scored in double figures. Suns moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Senators dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Suns will meet at home league's second-placed Lightning in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Senators will play against Flames (#4) and hope to secure a win.
