Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked Eltham Wildcats (2-8) lost to fifth ranked Waverley Falcons (7-2) in Mount Waverley 94-108 on Sunday. Waverley Falcons outrebounded Eltham Wildcats 44-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Dexter Kernich-Drew (199-91, college: WSU) nailed 38 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Tristan De Zwart accounted for 20 points and 8 rebounds. Four Waverley Falcons players scored in double figures. Point guard Adam Doyle (176-91) came up with 20 points and 5 assists and guard Justin Aver (190-89) added 20 points and 4 assists respectively for Eltham Wildcats in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Waverley Falcons moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Eltham Wildcats keep the sixteenth position with eight games lost. Waverley Falcons will meet Tigers (#18) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Eltham Wildcats will play against Bandits and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
