Very expected game when 8th ranked Rip City (3-4) was smashed by third ranked Meteorettes (7-1) in Sippy Downs 94-60 on Sunday. Meteorettes forced 21 Rip City turnovers and outrebounded them 44-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international center Cayla George (192-89) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and forward Chelsea Brook (188-98) supported her with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Meteorettes players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds by Carlie Smith did not help to save the game for Rip City. Forward Alex Delaney (183-95, college: SFC) added 24 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Meteorettes maintains third position in League with 7-1 record having five points less than leader Frankston B. Loser Rip City dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. Meteorettes will meet at home Flames (#5) in the next round. Rip City will have a break next round.
