Rather expected game when 17th ranked Sabres (1-8) lost to fifteenth ranked Bandits (3-7) in Cheltenham 83-89 on Sunday. Bandits outrebounded Sabres 41-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. New Zealand swingman Mitchell Dance (192-1) nailed 37 points (!!!) for the winning side and Lochlan Hutchison accounted for 24 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Kuany Kuany (201-94, college: Chaminade) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American-Kenyan forward Preston Bungei (198-95, college: Norfolk St.) added 20 points and 4 blocks respectively for Sabres in the defeat. Bandits moved-up to fourteenth place in League. Loser Sabres keep the seventeenth position with eight games lost. Bandits will meet Eltham Wildcats (#16) on the road in the next round. Sabres will play against Knox Raiders in Wantirna South and hope to win that game.
