Regular Season Round 28: Lakeside L. - Joondalup W. 51-74
Date: July 23, 2021
State League top team - Wanneroo (11-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Lightning (5-8) in Bullcreek 74-51. Wanneroo forced 22 Lightning turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Lightning's players. The winners were led by American power forward Amber Land (188-85, college: EMU) who scored that evening 7 points and 10 rebounds and guard Chelsea Belcher (173-98) supported her with 16 points. Even a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds by power forward Ashleigh Isenbarger (187-97) did not help to save the game for Lightning. Forward Kyrah Daniels (180-4) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Wanneroo maintains first position in League with 11-3 record. Lightning at the other side dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. Wanneroo will play against league's second-placed Tigers in Willetton in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lightning will play on the road against Cougars (#7) in Hamilton Hill and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
