Very predictable result in Mackay where third ranked Meteorettes (9-4) defeated 10th ranked Force (5-8) 87-77 on Friday. They outrebounded Force 45-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Meteorettes looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Chelsea Brook (188-98) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Courtney Virgo (178, college: Newberry) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Amy Lewis (175-86, college: Troy) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international center Abby Bishop (189-88) added 21 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Force's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Meteorettes maintains third position in League with 9-4 record having just three points less than leader Frankston B. Loser Force dropped to the ninth place with eight games lost. Meteorettes will meet at home Dolphins (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Force will play against Rip City and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
