The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Lightning's (5-10) home loss to ninth ranked Magic (6-8) 56-96 on Friday. Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Lightning's 30. Magic forced 19 Lightning turnovers and outrebounded them 45-27 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Lightning's players. Forward Carly Boag (188-95, college: Minot St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Casey Mihovilovich (173-82) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Four Magic players scored in double figures. Swingman Jaime Skeggs (174-4) responded with 14 points and power forward Ashleigh Isenbarger (187-97) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Magic moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Lightning keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Magic will meet at home higher ranked Flames (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lightning will have a break next round.
