No shocking result in a game in Mackay where fourth ranked Meteorettes (10-4) smashed 12th ranked Dolphins (1-10) 96-65 on Saturday. Meteorettes made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game, while Dolphins only scored seven points from the stripe. Meteorettes forced 20 Dolphins turnovers and outrebounded them 61-41 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Chelsea Brook (188-98) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 23 rebounds for the winners and center Skye Rees (190-89, college: Arkansas) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. Four Meteorettes players scored in double figures. Sarah Heard responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Leichan Williams scored 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Dolphins' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Meteorettes moved-up to third place in League. Loser Dolphins keep the twelfth position with ten games lost. Meteorettes will meet Cyclones (#14) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Dolphins will play against Wizards and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
