Very predictable result in Wendouree where eighth ranked Ballarat Miners (8-7) defeated 16th ranked Eltham Wildcats (2-11) 86-76 on Saturday. Guard William Hickey (194-99) fired 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Center Jock Perry (216-97, college: UC Riverside) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Adam Doyle (176-91) produced 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Geremy McKay (201-96, college: Vanguard) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Ballarat Miners and four Eltham Wildcats players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Ballarat Miners went down to ninth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Eltham Wildcats keep the sixteenth place with 11 games lost. Ballarat Miners will meet higher ranked Geelong Supercats (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Eltham Wildcats will play against Mount Gambier Pioneers (#4) in Mt Gambier and hope to secure a win.
