No shocking result in a game in Gawler where third ranked Panthers (12-4) smashed bottom-ranked Lions (0-16) 106-42 on Saturday. Panthers shot 28 for 38 from the free-throw line, while Lions only scored nine points from the stripe. Panthers forced 30 Lions turnovers and outrebounded them 36-22 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Forward Olivia Thompson (185-93) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and New Zealand guard Jordan Hunter (172-90, college: SEMO) chipped in 12 points during the contest. Four Panthers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Meaza Otto with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Ayak Ayuen scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panthers maintains third position in League with 12-4 record having just one point less than leader Frankston B. Loser Lions still closes the standings with 16 games lost. Panthers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lions will play again against Panthers (#3) and hope to get finally their first victory.
