Regular Season Round 12: SE Melbourne - Brisbane 98-94
Date: February 19, 2022
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Melbourne Phoenix (9-5) defeated at home 7th ranked Bullets (5-9) 98-94 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Ryan Broekhoff (197-1990, college: Valpo) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds and the former international swingman Mitch Creek (196-1992) who added 15 points and 4 assists during the contest. Five Melbourne Phoenix players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Lamar Patterson (196-1991, college: Pittsburgh) with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and his fellow American import forward Robert Franks (203-1996, college: WSU) scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Melbourne Phoenix moved-up to second place. Loser Bullets dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Melbourne Phoenix will meet at home Perth Wildcats (#4) in the next round. Bullets will play against Adelaide 36ers (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
