Regular Season Round 16: Tasmania JJ - Illawarra 65-91
Date: March 19, 2022
The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Illawarra Hawks' (12-8) road victory over 6th ranked JackJumpers (10-10) in Hobart 91-65 on Saturday. Illawarra Hawks dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to JackJumpers' 24. The winners were led by American guard Antonius Cleveland (196-1994, college: SEMO) who scored that evening 22 points and 7 rebounds and the former international center Duop Reath (210-1996, college: LSU) supported him with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Even 21 points by American guard Josh Adams (188-1993, college: Wyoming) did not help to save the game for JackJumpers. The former international swingman Clint Steindl (200-1989, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 17 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Illawarra Hawks moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted JackJumpers keep the sixth position with ten games lost. Illawarra Hawks will meet bottom-ranked New Zealand Breakers (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. JackJumpers will have a break next round.
