Rather expected game in Auckland where 10th ranked New Zealand Breakers (5-16) were edged by seventh ranked Bullets (8-14) 101-100 on Thursday. Bullets dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to New Zealand Breakers' 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Robert Franks (203-1996, college: WSU) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Lamar Patterson (196-1991, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 17 points and 7 assists. New Zealand forward Yannick Wetzell (208-1996, college: SDSU) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and New Zealand forward Thomas Abercrombie (198-1987, college: WSU) added 21 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Bullets maintains seventh place with 8-14 record. New Zealand Breakers lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Bullets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. New Zealand Breakers will play against the league's leader United (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
