Regular Season Round 19: Brisbane - Illawarra 77-108
Date: April 9, 2022
The game in Brisbane supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Illawarra Hawks (17-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Bullets (10-16). Illawarra Hawks smashed Bullets 108-77 on Saturday. Illawarra Hawks shot 60.3 percent from the field. Illawarra Hawks outrebounded Bullets 45-31 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Duop Reath (210-1996, college: LSU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field). American guard Antonius Cleveland (196-1994, college: SEMO) accounted for 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. American forward Robert Franks (203-1996, college: WSU) came up with 19 points and 5 rebounds and Spanish-French guard Tom Digbeu (195-2001) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for Bullets in the defeat. Four Bullets players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Illawarra Hawks have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 17-8 record behind leader Melbourne. Loser Bullets keep the seventh position with 16 games lost. Illawarra Hawks will meet Cairns Taipans (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Bullets will play against the league's leader United in Melbourne and hope to secure a win.
