Rather expected game in Melbourne where bottom-ranked Gulls (0-6) were defeated by fifth ranked Vikings (2-2) 87-74 on Saturday. Edward Bourke fired a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American guard Denzel Brito (185-1991, college: Loyola, MD) chipped in 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Kirk Smith (178) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and American Corey Standerfer (201-1988, college: York, NE) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vikings maintains fifth position in League with 2-2 record. Loser Gulls still closes the standings with six games lost. Vikings will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
