Regular Season Round 9: Cockburn C. - Goldfields G. 113-109

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Giants (2-1) in Hamilton Hill on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Cougars (4-0) 113-109. Cougars shot 61.9 percent from the field and made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Cougars outrebounded Giants 41-25 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a good game for swingman Gavin Field (202-1989, college: UWG) who led his team to a victory with 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Seva Chan (187-1994) contributed with 25 points and 9 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Cougars' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Jesse Ghee (183, college: Fullerton JC) answered with 31 points, 7 assists and 5 steals and power forward Manylok Malek (205-1994) added 25 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Giants. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Cougars maintains first place in League with 4-0 record. Giants at the other side dropped to the sixth position with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
