Very important is a road loss of second ranked South Adelaide Panthers (2-1) against eighth ranked West Adelaide Bearcats (2-2) on Monday night. Visiting South Adelaide Panthers were defeated by West Adelaide Bearcats in a tough game in Woodville 78-82. Strangely South Adelaide Panthers outrebounded West Adelaide Bearcats 42-30 including 27 on the defensive glass. American guard Nate Sheppard (198, college: Malone) notched 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Nikolas Desantis supported him with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Four West Adelaide Bearcats players scored in double figures. West Adelaide Bearcats' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 25 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists by American guard Jeremy Smith (190-1991, college: Nicholls St.) did not help to save the game for South Adelaide Panthers. His fellow American import forward Alexander Starling (198-1989, college: BCU) added 26 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. West Adelaide Bearcats moved-up to fifth place in League. South Adelaide Panthers at the other side keep the second position with one game lost. West Adelaide Bearcats will play against Norwood Flames (#8) in Marden in the next round. South Adelaide Panthers will play on the road against Central District Lions (#7) in Gawler and hope to get back on the winning track.
