Very expected game when bottom-ranked Bendigo Braves (0-3) lost at home to top-ranked Geelong Supercats (3-0) 90-73 on Sunday. Geelong Supercats outrebounded Bendigo Braves 49-35 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by guard Gabriel Hadley (190-1998) who scored that evening 25 points and 7 rebounds and American Isaac Turner (191-1992, college: St.Vincent) supported him with 23 points. Four Geelong Supercats players scored in double figures. Geelong Supercats' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 15 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists by American swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-1994, college: Xavier) did not help to save the game for Bendigo Braves. Luke Rosendale added 24 points and 5 steals. Geelong Supercats maintains first position in League with 3-0 record. Loser Bendigo Braves still closes the standings with three games lost. Geelong Supercats will meet at home Thunder (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Bendigo Braves will play against Ballarat Miners and hope to get finally their first victory.
