Mackay Meteors outrebounded Cairns Marlins 54-32 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Malok Majak had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American forward Kyrin Galloway (203-1999, college: UNCG) chipped in 18 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Five Mackay Meteors players scored in double figures. Guard Ben Ayre (188-1995, college: Newman) responded with 31 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Deba George (183-1985) scored 21 points. Mackay Meteors moved-up to second place in League. Loser Cairns Marlins keep the thirteenth position with two games lost. Mackay Meteors will meet at home Rockets (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cairns Marlins will play against South West Metro Pirates (#10) and hope to win that game.
